LED masks are everywhere these days for good reason, their anti-aging results are impressive.
When I first started looking at masks it was confusing. Mask companies TRY TO CONFUSE US by only focusing on the number of bulbs and not telling us what truly matters.
It wasn’t until I read the clinical studies that it all became simple and clear. The true measurements of an effective mask are having the right WAVELENGTHS, the right IRRADIENCE (mW/cm²) and having the right ENERGY DOSE (J/cm²).
Let’s look at WAVELENGTHS first:
Each wavelength, or color of light, stimulates a specific skin response:
Blue (415nm) to target acne-causing bacteria on the skin’s surface (in the OMNILUX Clear with 633nm for acne)
Red (633nm) reduces inflammation, pigmentation, and redness and helps prompt cellular repair and circulation for a more vibrant complexion.
Near-infrared (830nm) targets deeper fibroblast cells, stimulating new collagen and elastin production, resulting in plumper, firmer, more youthful looking skin.
Near-infrared (1072nm) penetrates deeper, triggering a more robust cellular response for anti-aging and skin rejuvenation, improving dark circles and eye bags.
Now, let’s look at IRRADIANCE:
Irradiance refers to the measurement of light intensity or power density. It shows how much light energy hits the skin per second, which directly affects the depth of light penetration.
The clinical studies show the ideal irradiance is between 20–60 mW/cm².
This range is strong enough for collagen stimulation, pigmentation reduction, and inflammation control without overheating or damaging skin.
Finally, let’s look at ENERGY DOSE.
This is how much energy your skin receives per session. Clinical studies have shown that the ideal dose per session is 10–20 J/cm² for collagen stimulation, anti aging, and reducing redness.
